Now you can connect handheld PCs, consoles, and laptops
Meta has introduced a new feature called HDMI Link, allowing users to connect their Meta Quest headset to a variety of devices with an HDMI or DisplayPort output, such as handheld PCs, consoles, and laptops. This feature enables users to experience 2D content in virtual reality, projected onto a large, low-latency “screen,” much like the Theater View introduced in the recent v67 software update.
HDMI Link is perfect for situations where a TV isn’t available, whether you’re sharing space with others or traveling. It allows you to play your favorite games directly in your headset at 1080p resolution with minimal latency, and you can adjust the screen size and position to your liking.
Beyond gaming, HDMI Link also supports laptops and smartphones, making it a versatile tool for various needs. Whether you’re on a long flight and want to watch a movie or work privately, HDMI Link ensures most content displays smoothly in your headset. However, be aware that some apps, particularly streaming services, may have built-in copy protection that could interfere with the feature.
You can download Meta Quest HDMI Link on App Lab to get started—though remember, you’ll also need a compatible capture card and the associated cabling to connect your devices to your headset.
